Using Astrology as a Tool for Self-Reflection

Finding language for parts of myself I hadn't noticed

Last year, during a relationship, the woman I was seeing suggested that I look at my natal chart. I've always felt connected to the moon and the stars in a more instinctive way. I had never been curious about how they were positioned at the moment I was born.

I later read parts of it to my brother, he was very skeptical. Still, there was a section that resonated deeply with me — and that moment surprised both of us.

After I moved back to Portugal, a friend introduced me to an app called The Pattern. It presents personality traits based on astrological placements. It also highlight the current influences in your life.

I'm open-minded, so I decided to explore it. Through that process, I came across archetypes and characteristics that felt familiar. Yet I hadn't been fully conscious of them before.

In psychology, there's a concept often referred to as the Correspondence Principle. The idea that what we pay attention to tends to reinforce itself. Our openness to experience can reveal patterns we weren't actively looking for.

That's the beauty of exploring and trying new perspectives. Through experience, we become more aware of our behaviors, our inner tendencies, and the world around us.
